Quinn Plastics Wins at Longchamp

Longchamp Store, New YorkLondon-based fabricators Talbot Designs found that Quinn Plastics PETG was the only sheet material that allowed the production of balustrades for a showpiece staircase in the flowing, organic, style visualised by the designers. Almost five tonnes of Quinn Plastics PETG were used in the stunning make-over of a formerly run down building in New York’s SoHo district.

Using aerospace technology, each of the 49 panels was moulded to have the fluidity of billowing fabric, whilst still being produced to exacting dimensional tolerances that meant each panel produced in London dropped into place perfectly in the New York store. The staircase in the 9,380 sq ft La Maison Unique Longchamp store is regarded as an architectural marvel and is the centerpiece of the shop.

“Quinn Plastics was delighted to work on such a challenging and beautiful design. The end result is an excellent demonstration of how the unique qualities of our PETG sheet means it can be used for a variety of different purposes,” said Graeme Buchanan, Commercial Manager, Quinn Plastics.

Quinn PETG sheet was supplied by UK distributor Silwood Plastics UK, and is a material with exceptional forming characteristics, allied to toughness and sparkling clarity. Debbie Coxall of Silwood Plastics, commented, “This amazing design shows the beauty, strength and versatility of PETG sheet. Silwoods are proud to be a contributor to this construction project, which is a groundbreaker in the use of Quinn PETG.”

QUINN PETG has outstanding formability at low temperatures which can reduce forming costs significantly. QUINN PETG is perfect for the toughest environments and has been used on door skins, balcony glazing, outdoor signs and roof-lights.
